Pratalungo is a small, traditional and unspoilt hillside village, which sits above Pettenasco on the North Eastern side of Lake Orta. It is a short 8 km drive away from Omegna, which commands the northern tip of the lake and provides access to the Autostrada network.

Omegna and Verbania (25km) are served by rail links, the latter being on the main line between Geneva, Switzerland and Milan, journey time approximately 1h 15mins. Milan Malpensa airport is about an hour’s drive away.

Omegna’s weekly market is one of the most thriving and liveliest in the area, with its eclectic mix of local produce, fresh fruit and vegetables, delicious food, clothing, textiles and crafts.

In the opposite direction, lies Orta – a stunningly picturesque town full of Italian charm, classical architecture, historical buildings – and steps! Its wide variety of cafes and restaurants also provide the visitor with a veritable feast of regional cuisine and refreshment.

A short boat trip across the lake is the monastic and silent island of San Guilio, with its spectacular views across the lake to the Alps in the distance to the north.

The world renowned Lake Maggiore and the Borromean Islands are situated only 25km away. Further to the North, lie the Western Alps, including the Mottarone, a ski resort with 21 km of downhill skiing. Its peak, which can be reached by cable car, rises to 1,492 metres – from which, on a clear day, one can see up to seven lakes.
